On January 10, 2019, the 2nd Dong Yansheng Teaching and Research Award Awarding Ceremony and Teaching Seminar of Dong Yansheng Education Fund were held at Beijing Foreign Studies University. Ma Liya, a Spanish teacher at Shenzhen University, won the Teaching and Research Award of Dong Yansheng Education Fund and spoke on behalf of the award-winning teachers.
Graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University, Ma Liya is now an assistant professor of Spanish major in the School of Foreign Languages of Shenzhen University. She has been engaged in Spanish teaching and scientific research for more than ten years with great achievements. Focusing on students’ needs, she has constantly innovated her teaching methods and paid more attention to the effects of teaching, so she has won high praise from students, and has cultivated a large number of talents majoring in Spanish. In scientific research, she has integrated research and teaching in practice, leading two school-level research projects and participating in several provincial projects. She was also involved in many international conferences and published high-level papers.
Dong Yansheng Education Fund is the first one established by a famous and prestigious professor in the history of Spanish major across China. It aims to reward young and middle-aged teachers who have made outstanding contributions to Spanish and Portuguese education in China and to promote the development of Spanish and Portuguese teaching and scientific research in our nation. Professor Dong Yansheng is a leading educator and translator of Spanish language and literature education in China, devoting himself to Spanish teaching and scientific research for decades. He has won the Order of Isabella the Catholic awarded by King Juan Carlos of Spain, the Order of Arts and Letters of Spain, and the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise issued by the Spanish government, as well as the 2nd Lu Xun Literature Prize awarded by the Chinese Writers Association. Professor Dong has made great contributions to cultural and academic exchanges between China and countries that speak Spanish.
