On the evening of September 9, 2019, the opening ceremony of Year 2019 undergraduate and postgraduate freshmen of School of foreign languages of Shenzhen University was held in the lecture hall No.1 of science and technology building. The ceremony was presided over by Qiu Jiangping, Secretary of School Party committee. All school leaders, heads of departments, class teachers, all counselors and college administrators attended the ceremony.

The opening ceremony officially began in the solemn national anthem. Dr. Zhang Xiaohong, dean of SFL, delivered a speech, expressing the warmest welcome and the most sincere blessing to all the new students of grade 2019 on behalf of the college. Dean Zhang sent a message to students that they should bravely explore infinite knowledge, beautiful youth and wonderful future in the "treasure box" of Shenzhen University with the pursuit of truth and beauty. So that let the seeds of the dream take root and germinate, draw together on the bright dream of “Li Yuan”. She encouraged us to keep our faith, to go forward, to discover a bigger world, to meet better ourselves, and to reap the golden fruits of our own.
Associate professor Jia Luyi, assistant dean, gave a detailed introduction to Year 2019 enrollment. With the increasing international popularity and influence of Shenzhen University, the enrollment quality of Shenzhen University has been significantly improved. All the freshmen who can join the big family of Shenzhen University are excellent talents in the future. Jia thanked all people for coming to Shenzhen University with a wonderful vision for the future and bringing fresh blood into the college.
Dean Zhang carried out entrance education and professional education for all the freshmen, and introduced the faculty, the development of the college and the scientific research to the freshmen. Zhang Xiaohong said that as the breeding ground of Shenzhen culture, Shenzhen University has been keeping up with the pace of Shenzhen's development and making steady efforts to build itself into a first-class university of Special Economic Zone, Window University and Experimental University. She hoped that all freshmen could cherish their time in university, seize the current development opportunities, make full use of the existing resources in Shenzhen University and make their own contributions to the development of Shenzhen University. Zhang stressed that the university's rigorous scholarship provides students with a good environment for learning and growth. She encouraged freshmen to cherish their youth, enrich themselves, devote themselves to learning and build a better self in the next four years.
Chen Pei, director of the English Department, Tong Xiaowei, director of the Japanese department, and Chen Rong, deputy director of the Western Language Department, respectively introduced the Department's professional characteristics and class teachers to the students, so that the freshmen can have a deeper understanding of the specific situation of each department and class in the college. Chen Pei congratulated the students on their wonderful four-year university. Tong Xiaowei read a Japanese inspirational poem for the students. And Chen Rong encouraged the students to play the youth movement of carrying their dreams and forging ahead.
In a burst of warm applause, the opening ceremony for freshmen of Foreign Languages College came to an end.
