From September 1986 to July 1995, he taught in the English Department of Ningxia University. In 1994, he graduated from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore with a master's degree in English teaching. In 1997, he obtained a master's degree in Applied Linguistics (Philosophy) from the National University of Singapore. He was a lecturer at the Regional Language Center of Singapore/ASEAN Education Ministers Organization (RELC/SEAMEO), and then an associate researcher at the Language Education and Teaching Research Center of the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Since May 2005, he has been teaching in the English Department of Shenzhen University School of Foreign Languages. Courses taught:
"English Reading", "English Writing" and "Culture and Translation"; teach graduate courses: applied linguistics research methods and literature study, sociolinguistics.
