Personal Profile:
Prof. Dai is a state-level leading talent of Shenzhen Municipality and chief expert of several major projects of National Social Science Fund and of Ministry of Education. He is council member of Chinese Association for South Asian Studies. He also works as adjunct professor of Institute of South Asia Studies at Sichuan University, member of academic committee for National High-end Think Tank of China Center for South Asia Studies at Sichuan University, visiting professor of the National Institute of Governance at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and senior visiting fellow at ISDP (Institute for Security & Development Policy, Stockholm, Sweden).
Prof. Dai’s research has long been focused on international relations and world economy. From 1986 to 2019, he was dedicated to research and teaching at the Institute of South Asia Studies at Sichuan University. Prof. Dai worked on international contracting & international trade in South Asia and Southeast Asia over 1986 to 1997, in charge of bidding and management of loan programs granted by World Bank and Asian Development Bank. He was a visiting scholar at University of British Columbia and University of Calgary between 2006 and 2011, researching on international cooperation on energy and mining and on corporate finance. He also worked for securities companies and energy MNC in Canada as energy investment analyst. Dr. Dai visited ISDP (Institute for Security & Development Policy, Stockholm, Sweden) as senior visiting fellow in 2014, focusing on studies of Belt and Road Initiative, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor and China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, as well as Major Powers Game in Myanmar.He taught a postgraduate course of Belt and Road Initiative and China’s Neighborhood Diplomacy in 2016 at University of Yangon, Myanmar. He attended training courses on Telling China’s Story organized by the Publicity Department, CPPCC and the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing in 2017 and 2019. In 2018 and 2019, he attended BRICS Seminar on Governance 2021 in South Africa and Brazil at the invitation of the Publicity Department, CPPCC. In 2019, he was invited to attend Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations and “Sharing Experience on Asian Governance”.
Professor Dai has published eight monographs, participated in the edit of 10 academic works, and published over 100 research articles. He is in charge of a high-profile research project supported by the National Social Sciences Foundation (Security Pattern of Bay of Bengal Countries and Its Impacts on Implementation of BRI). Additionally, he is the leader of two general research projects supported by the National Social Sciences Foundation (Study on Mechanism Construction in China-India Relations and China’s Strategic Options and Sino-Myanmar and Sino-Pakistan Energy Corridor under China’s Passages to Sea). He also leads a high-profile project supported by the Ministry of Education (Political Parties and Legal Environment in South Asian Countries and " B&R" Initiative) along with more than ten provincial research projects. Professor Dai is awarded the second prize by the Ministry of Education twice in International Studies and the third prize once in Social Sciences in Sichuan Province. He has visited about 50 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Croatia, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. During these visits, he attended international academic conferences more than 50 times, among which over 30 academic conferences are related to the BRI.
