Personal Profile
Dr. Xiao received her Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from Sun Yat-sen University, her M.A. in Applied English Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and her B.A. in English from Sun Yat-sen University. She was a visiting scholar at the University of Manchester, UK, in 2014, and at Carnegie Mellon University, USA, from 2015 to 2016. Since February 2023, she has been teaching College English at the College of International Studies, Shenzhen University.
Previously, she served as a lecturer at the School of International Studies, Sun Yat-sen University, where she taught a range of foundational and specialized courses, including English Phonetics, Contrastive Studies of English and Chinese, and Introduction to Linguistics. She also completed ESL teaching practicums at both high school and university levels in the United States, and holds a TESOL certificate issued by the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
