During the lecture, on the topic of "Construction of National Image and Overseas Communication", Professor Wang Ning explained his understanding and suggestions on the construction of national image and overseas communication from different aspects. First, he believes that now our task is to show the image of China to the world, that is, tell the story of China to the world. However, for a long time, people around the world, guided by the mainstream Western media, largely misunderstood China and its people. Therefore, to construct the image of China in the lingua franca to people is urgent. Professor Wang Ning pointed out that telling Chinese stories must involve translation issues. He focuses on using another contemporary translating form, translating images and constructing languages. In expressing personal views, Professor Wang used many vivid examples to help the audience better understand the meaning of constructing a national image. Then, Professor Wang mainly talked about the history and current situation of the criticism of the occidental people’s "Oriental studies" and "Sinology". Professor Wang talked about works and opinions of various famous authors. Finally, Professor Wang Ning summarized how Westerners see the evolution of China's image.
