On June 12, 2018, many teachers and students participated in this lecture. Professor Liu Yi started by outlining his work experience and research orientation, and demonstrated the definition of the discourse of the Belt and Road Initiative and the misunderstandings it involves. He put forward the concept of discourse theory: to concentrate value, referring to the compression of the conceptual meaning involving emotions, morality, politics, etc., which is intended to highlight social relations The Silk Road is a geographic concept, but then developed into economic, humanistic and political concepts on the basis of its metaphorical meaning, sublimated into the Silk Road spirit, covering a value system different from a Western discourse system. He believes that China's foreign discourse development has experienced three stages: the stage of the third world, reform and opening up, and the Belt and Road Initiative. China has changed from a defensive, introverted type to an attractive extraverted type, and transited from a core Chinese context to a world context. The interpretation of the Belt and Road Initiative can also be divided into three discourse systems: the Chinese Communist Party discourse system, starting from safeguarding the interests of the party and disseminating values to party members; the Chinese social discourse system, starting from safeguarding the interests of the whole of society and disseminating values to the Chinese people; and China's foreign discourse system, values spread to the international community.
Professor Liu Yi's language is rigorous and informative, and the collision of ideas in the conference room enthralled the students. This lecture broadened the students' discourse research horizons anadded new energy to the establishment of a profound academic atmosphere in our college.
